Most manifestation apps are free to download, and that is where the word "free" often ends. The rest sits behind a trial or a subscription. This page shows, app by app, what the free part covers and what waits behind a paywall, using store pages checked in September 2026. It does not rank the apps; for a roundup by type, see best manifestation apps.
Disclosure. manifestlings is our own app; it is listed among the options, and no app paid to be here. Where a price could not be verified, the table says "see the store page", because prices change and regions differ.
Free, trial or freemium: what the words mean
Three labels get mixed up in app stores, and they behave very differently on your card.
Free means you can use the app without paying, sometimes with ads. Free trial means full access for a short window, often seven days, and then a charge unless you cancel. Freemium means the app itself costs nothing to download, a core stays free for good, and extra features are sold as a subscription or a one-time purchase.
The store badge "Free" only tells you the download is free. The list of in-app purchases lower on the page tells you what the app really costs to use fully. It takes half a minute to scroll there, and it saves a surprise later.
What free tiers usually cover
Across affirmation and manifestation apps, the free layer tends to hold the parts that are cheap to give away: a limited set of affirmations, daily reminders, a basic journal or a small number of your own recordings. The paid layer tends to hold what costs the maker more or keeps you longer: big audio libraries, extra voices, background sound packs, offline downloads, unlimited recording and ad removal.
That pattern is useful. If your practice is one line a day and a reminder, a free tier can carry you for months. If you want a narrated session every night, you are probably shopping for a subscription, and it is better to know that on day one.
The apps, checked one by one
This table lists what each store page or maker's site said when we checked on 28 September 2026. "Platforms" means the stores we found a listing on. It is a snapshot, so confirm on your own store before you commit.

| App | What is free | What is paywalled | Platforms | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stella - Manifest Anything | Free to download | Paid plan called "Unlimited" on the App Store; the maker advertises a 7-day free trial | App Store; the maker's site also links Google Play | See the store page |
| ThinkUp | A limited set of library affirmations, up to three of your own recordings, one default music track | Unlimited affirmations, longer recordings, more music, timer controls | App Store and Google Play | Monthly, yearly and lifetime options; see the store page |
| Innertune | App Store: unlimited listening, night mode, daily reminders. Google Play lists unlimited 5-minute sessions and voice recording as free | More voices, binaural beats, offline downloads, ad-free listening, longer sessions | App Store and Google Play | See the store page |
| I Am | Free to download, with daily affirmations and reminders | Premium content | App Store and Google Play | Monthly, yearly and lifetime options; see the store page |
| Mantra | Free to download | A subscription unlocks the fuller experience | App Store; a Mantra listing also appears on Google Play | See the store page |
| Myla | Base app is free | Expanded vision boards, manifestation tools, premium frequencies, themes and guided rituals | App Store (Google Play not confirmed) | Monthly, 6-month and annual plans; see the store page |
| Finch (self-care pet) | Core pet care and check-ins | Finch Plus, an optional tier | App Store and Google Play | See the store page |
Two details are worth pulling out. First, Innertune's free layer differs between stores as we read them, so check the store you use. Second, the App Store page for ThinkUp spells out its free limits clearly, which is a good sign of what a transparent listing looks like. If you want the differences between affirmation players in more depth, best affirmation apps compares how each one delivers the line.
Stella is a special case, because people often arrive from the audio-story trend. The maker's site at downloadstella.com mentions a 7-day free trial and no price. If you are weighing it against similar formats, apps like Stella lists alternatives by kind.
A seven-day test that costs nothing
Before you pay for anything, give one app a fair, short trial. On day one, open the store page and write down the three features you care about most, for example "record my own voice", "works offline" and "no ads". On day two, check each one against the free tier. If one is missing, you already know what a subscription would buy.
From day three to day seven, use the app the way you would use it for real, at the time of day you would really use it. Note how many days you opened it without being reminded. Two or three out of five is a good sign. Zero is an equally good answer: it tells you the format does not suit you, and you saved the price of a plan.
If you start a paid trial, cancel inside the store's subscription settings on day five or six, not on day seven. Stores often let you keep the trial until it ends even after you cancel, so check the wording on yours; if it holds, nothing is lost and no charge slips through.
Free without an app
Every manifestation method on this site works with a pen. That is easy to forget when the store shows glossy screenshots.
A notes app holds a scripting page, a list of intentions or a "done" list. A phone timer runs a five-minute visualisation. A repeating alarm labelled with your line works as an affirmation reminder. A jar and some paper slips do the job of a wish jar, described in wish jar and gratitude jar.
If you want ready-made starting points, try the manifestation journal prompts or a two-minute morning affirmation routine. Both cost nothing and need no account. The 55x5 method is another pen-and-paper routine that needs only a notebook.
Hidden costs to watch for
The price on the paywall is only one cost. A few others are worth a quick look before you tap "start".

Auto-renewal. Trials and yearly plans usually renew on their own. Put the end date in your calendar the day you start. Weekly billing. Some plans are priced per week, which looks small and adds up; multiply it by 52 before you decide. Streak pressure. Apps that shame you for a missed day can quietly turn a gentle practice into a chore, and that is a cost too. Data. An app that asks for your goals, your voice and your mood is holding personal material, so read the privacy notes on the store page.
One more question is worth asking: what happens to your entries if you stop paying? Some apps keep your notes readable, others lock them. The store page rarely says, so a support email before you write a year of journals is a fair move.
Signing in and privacy
Many free apps ask for an account before you see anything. Others let you look around first. Neither is wrong, but it helps to notice which one you are in, because a required sign-in means your intentions are stored on someone's server. If that matters to you, choose an app that works offline and says so on the store page, or use a plain notebook for the most personal lines.
A useful test is to open the app in airplane mode. If your saved affirmations still play, they live on your phone. If the screen turns blank, they depend on a connection and an account.
Where manifestlings fits
manifestlings is a different kind of option: a virtual pet, a dreamling, that grows on what you practise. Around it sit a wish you can look at again, a short game made from your words, small rituals, care on the real clock, and a guided meditation with 4-2-6 breathing. If the pet idea appeals, manifestation app with a virtual pet explains the format.
It is coming soon to the App Store for iPhone, with Android later. You sign in once, and every new account starts with 7 days of Premium free, followed by a free core. We have not listed a price here, and we will not pretend it is free forever; the store page will show the plans when the app is live. Like every app in this table, it is an extra. The practice happens in your own days, with or without a screen.
To choose between formats before you spend anything, run each candidate's free tier for one week, keep a note of what you actually opened, and drop the rest. The one you opened on a tired Tuesday is the one to keep.
Questions people ask
Is there a completely free manifestation app?
Several apps are free to download and keep a useful core without paying, but most place voice packs, unlimited libraries or offline listening behind a subscription. Read the store page before you rely on a feature.
Are manifestation apps with a free trial really free?
A trial is free for a set time, then it usually turns into a paid plan unless you cancel first. Set a reminder for the day before the trial ends and check the plan you picked.
Can I manifest without paying for anything?
Yes. A notebook, a notes app and a phone timer cover writing, scripting and short rituals. An app can make the habit easier to keep, but the practice itself needs no purchase.
Which free manifestation app is best?
There is no single answer, because the apps do different jobs: audio stories, affirmation libraries, vision boards or a pet that reacts to your care. Pick the format you will open on a tired day and test its free tier for a week.
